Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Esher Church School, we believe that every pupil has a right to a broad and balanced curriculum, regardless of gender, faith, race, learning needs or disability.

Our school’s vision and ethos supports the contribution that each and every pupil makes to the school. The curriculum has been designed and presented to be delivered in a supportive and stimulating atmosphere, ensuring that every child achieves his or her full potential.

All children follow our school curriculum which is delivered using Quality First Teaching. Some pupils may require targeted short-term intervention or support to enable learning and progress in specific identified areas of the curriculum. Other pupils require more long-term specific individualised teaching to support their learning. Whatever a pupil’s need may be, our Special Educational Needs provision will identify and provide the necessary support to enable every child to reach their potential.

The Children and Families Act 2014 offers support for children with special needs and disabilities, which now starts from birth to 25 years. Our local offer (Whole School Provision Map) outlines the types of provision available. This is helpful in understanding and knowing the range of support and specialisms available in the school and from the Local Authority.
