Collective worship is a central part of daily life at Esher Church School. It is an inclusive and invitational space where children and adults come together to explore our Christian vision and values.
Through worship, pupils encounter biblical teachings, engage with stories of faith and reflect on how these relate to their own lives. Worship provides opportunities for spiritual growth, personal reflection and collective celebration.
Children are encouraged to participate actively in worship through prayer, reflection, music, leadership and discussion, helping them develop confidence and an understanding of the role faith plays within our school community.
Collective worship provides a welcoming space for spiritual development, where pupils reflect on life through ‘WOWs’ (moments of awe and wonder), ‘NOWs’ (current experiences and challenges), and ‘OWs’ (concerns and difficulties), encouraging thoughtful personal reflection and growth
Faith Team July 2026
This week, we were treated to our final collective worship from our current Faith Team, on the theme of Beginnings and Endings. Starting with Bible verses including Jerimiah 29:11 and Matthew 28:19-20 they shared with us their feelings about the end of the school year. Most of them felt a mixture of sadness at leaving what they have enjoyed and excitement as they looked forward to new challenges. They explained our school values can help us to move on: Wisdom to make good choices and Courage to build Community in new situations.
The Faith team said prayers for courage for us all and the ability to make new friends as we move on. They also led us in singing and signing a rousing rendition of Hallelujah Feeling!
Mrs Dunn, who leads the Faith Team, has been immensely impressed and inspired by this group of young people and their courage in sharing their thoughts and their faith with the school throughout the year. (Plus how many Makaton signs they have learnt!)
Each Faith Team member was presented with a Bible verse to encourage them as they move on.

Faith Team Collective Worship April 2026
This week our faith team delivered another fantastic collective worship that they had prepared, on the subject of courage.
They shared Biblical examples of people being afraid and bravely shared some of the things that worried them. The Faith Team told us what they think courage is: being brave in difficult situations, facing your fears and persevering, trying things you’ve not done before and not giving up.
They shared that their family, friends and teachers all give them courage.
We were led in in prayers asking for courage and singing and signing Harbour Creative’s Strong and Courageous, a song chosen by Reuben, one of our Faith Prefects.
The children learnt the Makaton sign for our school value of Courage – it starts inside yourself and then comes out into the world to do good!
