Year 6

Year 6

Year 6 is a particularly special and important year as it is the bridge to secondary school. Consequently, one of our key priorities in Year 6 is to prepare the children socially and emotionally for their transition, giving them a variety of learning opportunities within a rich and varied curriculum. The children are encouraged to take on increasing responsibility and to become more independent in their learning, wherever possible. Year 6 are role models for younger pupils and so living out their Christian values is encouraged at all times. They also have the added responsibility of looking after their ‘Little Friends’ in the Reception classes with whom they are paired. This is one of the most special opportunities Year 6 offers and the children really value the relationship they develop with their Little Friend. We find that the children rise to the demands of this Year groups and look forward to being at the top of the school.
